Why Choose Sub Zero Cryogenics?
This Cryogenic Tempering Process is not a surface treatment. It affects the entire mass of the component being treated making it stronger throughout and dramatically reducing wear. This means the process keeps working for the life of the component rather than ceasing to be effective after the surface is worn or otherwise damaged.
Because during the Cryogenic Tempering treatment these mechanisms are operating cyclically and in temperature ranges previously not visited, Cryogenic Tempering is continuing to provide new applications for optimizing the performance properties of materials and metals. The Cyrogenic Tempering process in ordinary processors can take up to 60 hours. Most processors on the market use gaseous Nitrogen or refrigeration cooling then gaseous Nitrogen. Some just use liquid nitrogen shot into the bottom of the processor and let the nitrogen gas bleed to the top. The materials at the top of the processor take a long time to reach the deep cryogenic temperature. Our processor’s circulation method moves the gaseous nitrogen around the parts and provides a convection effect so all the parts being treated get equal cooling in a faster manner. Our processors can do in 24 hours what it takes other processors up to 60 hours to do. Here are the reasons why our process is so effective:
- Our precise computer controlling can raise and lower the temperature from .1 degree to 10 degrees per minute operating at temperatures from +400 degrees to -320 degrees.
- We have time tested fans that can continue to operate at these extreme temperatures. This provides a convection type cooling not found in any other processors on the market. All the materials in the processing chamber heat and cool equally. We don't just shoot Nitrogen into the processor and let it rise to the top. That type of Cryogenic processing gets the materials on the bottom cold fast and then it takes a lot longer to ensure the materials at the top reach the desired temperature. The more material they load the longer it take to ensure the materials on the top are treated. That is why it take conventional Deep Cryogenics 48-60 hours to treat their materials.
- Our improved results can be achieved in as little as 12-24 hours. Quicker turnaround time means less down time and waiting for you parts.
- Heaters in the processing chamber make it possible to heat the material to remove any moisture and keep the material processed from developing surface rust. This also helps to lock in the changes that occur at the end of the processing run. The heaters also allow the computer controller to precisely requlate the temperature during the thawing process. We don't just let the gaseous Nitrogen out a valve and try to regulate the temperature that way. The computer controls the heaters to very precisely regulate the temperture.
